You will need to remove the control panel on your Weber Genesis Silver if you want to access the igniter, replace the burner tubes or find your grill’s serial number. Here is how you get that panel off.
This is a control panel for a Weber Genesis Silver A. The steps for removal will be the same for any model of Silver grills.
The first thing you need to do is to remove the control knobs. You don’t need any tools. Just grab the knob and pull up.
Next you are going to look at the right side of the grill and see two holes in the plastic molding that provide access to two screws. Here is what the hole looks like.
You will need to use a Philips head screwdriver (+) and remove the screw from each hole.
Put the screws in your pocket so you won’t lose them.
Now you can lift up and remove the control panel.
Here is what it looks like underneath the control panel.
Now you can see whether you can see whether you need the black or red igniter. This grill has the black igniter.
If you need to remove the burner tubes then you can look underneath and get started be unscrewing the wingnuts.
And if you want to find the serial number for your grill it is located on the right side of the control panel.
Two notes about the serial number:
- As you can see the information on the panel has faded on this grill. It is not uncommon for the information of the panel to be completely unreadable.
- For grills made in 2005 that have a cabinet housing the serial number is located inside the cabinet door and not on the side of the control panel.
I hope this helps you get your grill fixed. Here are the links back to the replacement part pages.
