Dude…this is wonderful; thank you for your efforts and abundant information.
My Weber Grille is functioning fine. Many working parts have been replaced over the years. My problem is the cabinet is rusting out; the floor of the cabinet is so rusted that the left cabinet door is no longer supported. Also the wheels are rusting out. Would welcome your advice.
Janet, I fully understand your problem. It is very frustrating when the grill is working great but the supporting structure is rusting all around.
I do not have a quick and easy answer. I will be researching the bbq forums to see how people have tackled this problem and will create a summary post on the site as a guide. This is a pretty common problem. Apologies for not being more useful right now…will work on getting you some answers.
Thanks for all the info. I was given a series A model two years ago, but I’m still stuck on my weber gold charcoal. However, today I burned a few spots on my composite would deck (first time since we bought the house three years ago) and the wife Was not happy. Hence this post. Might as well put a good grill to use and move my beloved charcoal grill to the garage.
I received a used 2005 silver A from my brother in law. He rarely used it and never covered it. It was in poor shape to say the least. I found your site and stripped it to the frame and rebuilt it. Total was $82 and included stainless steel grates, new ignitor, new tubes and catch pans. This grill is at least 10 times better than the char broil 4 burner I bought from Lowes two years earlier. I’d like a B model but this A rocks thanks to your information. Thank you!
Steve, congrats on the great refurbishment project! Very glad you brought that Silver A back to life. I appreciate the kind words about the site. Thank you!
You are the MAN! I am very grateful for the thoughtful, complete information you provide on this website resource.
I was recently blessed to acquire a Weber Genesis Silver A 2005 model from a Goodwill Store in my area.
The unit was little used but pretty dirty. I cleaned it up and am pleasantly surprised at the final results. I am replacing the Flavorizer bars and some other items but overall the unit is in great shape. Your resource should keep me going for the rest of my life!!!
Thanks for the website. Going to bookmark it. Found a Weber Silver A yesterday across from where I live. Just sitting on the curb waiting to be claimed. Hopped out of my car when I saw. Rolled that grill into the garage.
Today I finished cleaning the grates and the flavorizer bars. I’m going to place an order to replace some items that worn out. It’s in great shape.
The only thing I noticed that is missing from my grill is the Thermo table and swinging hinge table; and the accessory rack on the bottom of the grill. The one thing that sucks is those two pieces are obsolete. Will be making some modifications to the grill get it running.
Will keep you posted once I’m done with the project!

Thanks
Just added the link, Jenn! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
David,
I found a Silver A fully functioning for $60.00. Is that a fair price?
Thanks
$60 is a very fair price for a fully functional Silver A!

Don’t give up on that kettle, Alberto! Buy a fireproof grill mat 🙂
